SENIOR SERVICES VOLUNTEER

Purpose/Objective

The Senior Services Volunteer will help the senior center by providing his/her time interacting with and serving seniors through various means. By volunteering, you are playing a major role in fulfilling our mission of allowing seniors to live independently and productively while maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities

  • · Help Serve meals to Seniors
  • · Assist with facilitation of various activities during program hours
  • · Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • · Be caring and kind to the elderly population
  • · Be patient
  • · Be willing to help the senior center staff

Time Commitment

Monday-Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement House is a community based non-profit organization that offers comprehensive services to the youth, adults, seniors and families in the Western Queens Community. The resources, opportunities and support we provide serve as a catalyst for community members to reach their greatest potential and achieve social and economic self-sufficiency.

Description

A multi-service community-based organization in Long Island City Queens, Riis Settlement offers after-school programs for youth, adolescent services, immigrant services, including adult ESOL classes, and Senior Citizen support programs.
