Make some Noise- Volunteers get to play!
Join in the fun by making some noise with our visitor! Volunteers get to play with our guests and engage in imaginative, creative activities.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to host Discovery Bay Hang Outs! Help little kiddos build with soft blocks, read stories or have fun with bubbles! Clean-up duties are always a part of this area with active toddlers (walkers and crawlers) moving through the space! This position requires the ability to squat, sit on the floor, and interact well with caregivers and their small children.

Volunteers commit to 'hanging out’ in our Discovery Bay exhibit from 10:30am to 11:30am, allowing other families to drop-in at their convenience. Volunteers are not required to bring props or plan activities, however, they are welcome to contribute to our growing activities available. A Seattle Children’s Museum Educator will train you until you are comfortable hosting a Hangout on your own, and can commit to the hour on either Monday, Tuesdays, or Thursdays.

Volunteers have a unique opportunity to reach out to caregivers, make new friends, and encourage the development of social skills in young ones - all in a safe, fun, and accessible space.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to engage children, and the people who care for them, in playful, creative, hands-on exploration and discovery. Our purpose is to encourage kids and adults alike to embrace active, lifelong learning. We create and maintain museum spaces, events and programs that are inclusive, engaging, playful and fun for ALL of the region’s kids and families. We envision a region where children, families, students and educators have a wide network of facilities to support them in learning, engagement, play and quality time together. We will strive to be an essential part of that network.
