The goal of Love n Me Mentoring Program is to empower young girls ages 11-18 to avoid high-risk behaviors such as crime, drug use, adolescent pregnancy, human trafficking, and truancy. Students participate through their 6th-12th grade, receiving mentoring, life skills classes, academic tutoring, and case management. We pair 60 of our students with mentors in order to improve their academic and future successes by offering specialized one-on-one mentoring with a volunteer from the community.

Mentors help their mentees seek out positive role models and safe recreational activities. They help youth realize their full potential and influence youth to make healthier choices that lead to physical, social, and emotional wellness. Mentoring activities can range from hanging out at school, going to the park or mall, attending a baseball game, tutoring at the library, visiting a local university, watching a movie, and more--whatever you are capable of, interested in sharing, and will ultimately benefit your mentee.

Commitment:
-One academic year
-Minimum of 6 hours a month (combination of phone calls, in person, group activities, etc.)
-Submit monthly report online to the Volunteer Coordinator

Safety Requirements:
-Must be at least 18 years old
-Application with references
-DOJ Fingerprinting (reimbursement by LNM of $10)
-Intellicorps Background Check
-TB test (reimbursement by LNM of $15)
-Proof of driver's license*
-Proof of auto insurance*
-DMV online record (reimbursement by LNM of $2)*
*only required if you are planning to drive your mentee
