World Computer Exchange-Boston is seeking volunteers to help pack computer equipment on Saturday, October 5th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at our site in Hull, MA. Hull is about an hour's drive south of Boston. We may be able to arrange a ride with another volunteer if you contact us a few days ahead of time. Lunch is provided for volunteers staying more than 2 hours. The work will involve refurbishing computers and/or testing monitors and preparing equipment for shipping.
WCE- Boston is a group of volunteers in the greater Boston area who help to raise funds and gather, test and pack donated computers that are sent overseas to schools and community organizations. No special skills are required, however those with tech repair skills are highly valued and your skills will be put to good use. Non-skilled tasks may include turning on units & a simple protocol, counting mice, power cords, etc. or loading equipment onto pallets.

Mission Statement
World Computer Exchange's mission is to bridge the digital divide for the world's poorest youth by collecting donated, working computers and building the capacity of schools and youth organizations in developing countries to connect and maintain them. By reutilizing computer equipment, we help the environment by keeping computers out of landfills.
Description
WCE utilizes volunteers in 30 cities in the US and other countries to collect working computers to be shipped to schools and organizations serving youth in developing countries. We also utilize online volunteers to assist our partner organizations in developing countries in planning and fundraising for a shipment of computers, managing telecentres to support maintenance of the computers, and developing content relevant to the local culture. Our ultimate goal is to connect youth and schools in various parts of the world to each other via the internet.
