Paws For Courage, a non profit organization whose mission is to assist domestic violence with their pets is seeking an attorney to assist our Board of Directors. We are in need of assistance with drafting and reviewing policies, contracts and similar documents. We will also need assistance in creating the structure for our organization and making it sure it falls within the guidelines of any and all local laws, requirements, etc
The ideal candidate will have experience with either humane law or family/domestic law (preferably both). We will consider 1 of each category candidate if necessary.

Mission Statement
Paws For Courage's mission is to assist those living in domestic violence situations by providing temporary safe havens for their pets, enabling them to leave their abusers sooner. As many as 48% of domestic violence survivors stay in an abusive relationship due to fear of what will happen to their pets once they leave. Abusers will hurt and even kill pets in order to gain control over and intimidate their victims. It is our mission to greatly reduce this percentage and enable more victims to become survivors. Many domestic violence shelters do not allow pets or do not have options for the pets of those they assist. We want to provide that solution through a network of private foster homes that love and care for the beloved pets of these individuals until they are back on their feet and ready to be reunited with them. Our foster homes will provide the necessary TLC and vet care with the assistance of donations by our supporters.
