You're the greatest Monday morning quarterback you know. Back in the day you could hurl a football over that mountain there. You swoosh half-court shots in your sleep and could easily dunk on LeBron.
...Or maybe not. But if you can dribble, run, throw, or swim, there's a Little waiting for you to show off your skills.
Right now, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma has almost 100 boys waiting for a Big Brother to hang out with--no matter the Big Brother's athletic skills. These Little Brothers came to us looking for their own John Wooden because they know Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma is the nation’s most effective one-to-one mentoring organization. With over a century of positive results and a full-time, professionally trained staff to help maximize results, we help our Bigs make a BIG difference.
Plus, our site and community-based programs give you options on how you can volunteer. In our site-based program, you meet with your Little one hour a week at his school during lunch. During site-based, you can talk about the big game last Sunday or who’s going to be your starting fantasy quarterback this week. Our community-based program is almost limitless in the activities you can do! Go to a park and toss the ole pigskin, watch Remember the Titans for the hundredth time, or take some time to work on your golf swing. The activity doesn't matter! What matters is your time and relationship with a Little.

As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma matches volunteer mentors (Bigs) with children (Littles) who need help with self-esteem, decision-making, and other areas of life. Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Description
Our Programs Start Something. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma provides mentors to almost two-thousand children across the state. Unlike many other mentoring organizations, BBBSOK provides a trained, full-time staff that works to ensure matches are perfect both for the mentor and the mentee by initiating a thorough interview process and providing support throughout the life of the match. With BBBSOK's research-proven model and four hours of volunteer mentoring a month, children’s lives are changed.
Big Impact, Proven Results: Independent research shows Littles who remain matched for a year are more confident in their academic and social lives and are significantly less likely to use illegal drugs.
Ways to Get Involved! At BBBSOK, we offer two core programs: school-based mentoring and community-based. With school-based mentoring, a volunteer Big meets once a week with their Little, usually during lunch. During this time, the Big and Little develop strong relationships by working on homework, eating together, or just hanging out. In the traditional community-based program, the Big and Little get together on their own time to share fun activities they both enjoy. Community-based mentoring is a few fun hours a month doing low-cost activities you'd likely already be doing!
