It’s easy to get involved and add a Little magic to a child’s life. We have volunteer opportunities requiring varying levels of time commitment. To a child in need, even a relatively small time commitment can provide the child with the undivided and unconditional attention. You don’t need any special training or a lot of money to be a Big Brother or Big Sister, just a BIG heart!!
Whether it’s a few hours a week or every other week, a time commitment will be determined to fit your schedule and the child’s needs.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Shelby & Darke County is a social service program designed to help children who have a special need for a strong relationship with a positive adult.
Careful consideration must be given to many factors, past and present, before determining whether an applicant may be considered for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Certain aspects of your family life, health, personality and behavior may have a significant impact on the relationship you form with your Little Brother/Little Sister. Pertinent information will be shared between all parties concerned in order to create the best match, though names will be kept confidential until the match is made.
The volunteer screening process includes an in-home interview, a personality test and a criminal record check.
If you are interested in becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister and want more information, call our office at 937-492-7611 or 937-547-9622, visit our website at www.bigbrobigsis-shelbydarke.org, or email us at info@bigbrobigsis-shelbydarke.org.
