ORGANIZATION: Minnesota Hoarding Task Force

  • 10 people are interested

Help us plan a training day for professionals who encounter hoarded homes during the course of their jobs.

Events we have participated in various local health fairs, fire department open houses, hosting a booth at The Minnesota State Fair, September Hoarding Awareness Month, and NAMI Walk--Minnesota.

Duties and Responsibilities: Attend monthly Task Force meetings, develop ideas for outreach and education, coordinate logistics for day-of events, manage volunteers/staffing, report updates to Task Force officers and membership.

Anticipated Time Commitment: Two hours for monthly attendance at Task Force meetings. We anticipate additional time spent to consist of information gathering, event planning, marketing (including using social media), conference calling for updates between meetings, and occasional small group meetings outside standing Task Force meetings. Ideally, our events coordinator will be flexible and able to help 5-20 hours extra per month, depending on upcoming events.

About Minnesota Hoarding Task Force

Location:

111 1st St SE, Osseo, MN 55369, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to support any person, family, friend or agency in Minnesota affected by hoarding through education, networking and connection to resources while promoting public health and safety. We envision communities that implement best practices to support those affected by hoarding where individuals are supported with sustainable options while being treated with dignity and respect.

Description

We educate the public and families about what hoarding is and is not. We would like to hear about community events that we can participate in with either a short presentation or by hosting a table with information to share.

We respond to requests for help with hoarding situations. The Minnesota Hoarding Task Force does not offer services. Instead, we use our expertise and connections to share information and options to be considered. If you have a question about a hoarding situation, contact us by phone, email, or on our Facebook page. We keep details of such situations confidential.

A number of our volunteer members are developing presentations and informational talks to be used at training sessions for requests that we receive.

If you encounter hoarded homes during the course of performing your job, you may be interested in attending a monthly business meeting. We meet the first Thursday of each month. We include an educational element in each meeting. You will also have the opportunity to network with other professionals. If you are hoarding or have a family member who is hoarding, you are also welcome to attend a meeting.
