Are you looking for ways to connect with people from other cultures right here in Denver? Do you have a passion for teaching and helping others? Lutheran Family Services Refugee & Asylee Programs has a great Cultural Mentoring Program where you can sign up to mentor a newly arrived refugee or refugee family. You don't have to be Lutheran to get involved because we welcome all people!
Here's How to Get Started: Attend an orientation and tr aining. These are offered the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 1600 Downing Street (5th floor). Application and background check are required for this volunteer opportunity.
Mentoring a Newly Arrived Refugee Family: Time Commitment: 6 months, spending just 4 hours a month working with the refugee family on English, Financial Literacy, Employment Skills, Practical Life Skills, having fun and exploring Denver.
Mentoring a Newly Arrived Single Male Refugee (this opportunity is only open to male volunteers): Time Commitment: 3 months, spending a minimum of 1-2 hours a week mentoring single refugee males. You will work with them on English, Financial Literacy, Employment Skills, Practical Life Skills, having fun and exploring Denver.
