1340 Frankford AvePhiladelphia, PA 19125

Volunteer tutors in the Adult Education and Career Development Program at Lutheran Settlement House work with adult learners on basic math and literacy, GED test prep, and digital literacy.

Volunteers should be able to commit 3-5 hours/week for a minimum of 6 months. Tutors work with adult learners on either an individual basis or in small groups. Tutors are provided with a toolkit of materials - both physical and online - to guide them through the tutoring cycle. Hours are flexible and based on volunteer and learner schedules. We are open from 9 AM - 7:30 PM, Monday-Friday.

Additionally, volunteers are asked to complete a Basic Tutor Training with the Mayor's Commission on Literacy and attend a 90-minute orientation at Lutheran Settlement House. Volunteers are required to have a Bachelor's degree and will be asked to complete clearance forms.
