On Wednesday evenings during shelter season (November 2021- April 2022), we hold empowerment programs to teach life and employment skills to the women in our shelter. Topics include: Interviewing Skills, Resume Writing, Communication Skills, and Planning. We would also like to have programs for art, yoga and exercise. Please let us know if you have a special talent or knowledge to share as a presenter, or if you can recommend someone who might be interested!

Mission Statement

Rebecca's Tent, formerly Shearith Israel Shelter, is a nigh shelter dedicated to assisting homeless women in obtaining stable, permanent housing by providing a nurturing shelter environment, empowerment tools, and community support.

Description

Rebecca's Tent has been providing safe temporary shelter since 1983. Since its founding, Rebecca's Tent has provided shelter and supportive services to nearly 1,000 homeless women. We provide shelter five months during the year and follow-up services and support for 12 months to homeless women. Rebecca's Tent shelter season is November through March.
