Volunteers with HR experience/education or business experience/education are needed to help homeless women re-enter the work force.
These Career Preparation Workshops help women in shelters create or update their resumes and improve their interview skills.
These workshops are held on Sunday evenings. The time ranging from 8am till noon or 4pm till 8pm. These are small groups of 10 to 13 women. They are divided into two groups. One group works from 4pm till 6pm on resume creation while the other half works on interview skills. At 6pm the group switch rooms and what they were working on.
The idea is to have the women finish the day with 5 copies of a professional looking resume, a flash drive with their resume on it that they can update, an appropriate email address, and increased confidence about the interview process. Volunteers for the resume creation need to have a laptop computer. Rebecca’s Tent provides the resume paper and the flash drives.
