This is an exciting time to join the Board and contribute to the Art Center. The organization is in need of board members with experience in leadership, business (MBA), nonprofits, marketing, grant-writing and fundraising.
The San Francisco Children's Art Center has been part of the lives of children and families since 1978. Our mission is to nurture the developmental and artistic growth of children through creative expression and self-guided learning. By encouraging experimentation and discovery in a supportive environment, the Art Center is a place filled with possibilities, where children can collaborate, explore, and grow.
At our Fort Mason studio, we offer a full range of art classes and workshops for children ages 22 months to 10 years old. We also offer weekend family workshops and art birthday parties.
In the community, we serve hundreds of children each year through our partnership with the Performing Arts Workshop that takes our teachers into preschools throughout the city.

Mission Statement
San Francisco Children's Art Center's mission is to empower children to develop their sense of self through creative exploration.
Description
For nearly 50 years, Children’s Art Center has engaged young people in a process-oriented, visual arts methodology that honors self-expression and individual and collaborative decision-making.
Working in our Fort Mason Art Studio and in classrooms across the city of San Francisco, we support children as they explore their ideas, memories, and feelings. Our teaching artists empower young people to express their identity through their artmaking. We support children as they develop language to share their experiences and stories, learn to solve challenges, and connect with others in meaningful ways through visual story-telling.
As a community-based, non-profit organization, our goal is to make art experiences accessible to every child. We work to reverse inequities and provide access to arts experiences for all young people in our city.
Each year, we serve approximately 1000 San Francisco children, the majority of whom are from economically vulnerable families and youth of color. Our hope is that we can continue to grow and reach more children every year.
