ORGANIZATION: Volunteers for Community Impact

As a Foster Grandparent, you'll help children in your community develop the academic and life skills that are critical to their development and future successes.

Sharing your time and experience can help children learn how to read, prepare younger students for school readiness, tackle tough subjects and make decisions that keep them on the right path. We'll match your skills and passions to opportunities that interest you, including those in local schools, youth facilities, early childhood education and day care centers.

Foster Grandparents are 55+ experienced adults throughout Central Florida. Before volunteering, each Grandparent undergoes 40 hours of training before being placed in community organizations, and continues to receive training monthly. Our Grandparent volunteers are matched in sites throughout our community with children of special or exceptional needs, where beneficial relationships are created.

Volunteers can be placed in various sites throughout Osceola, Orange, Seminole, Flagler and Volusia counties with children ages 2-18. For income eligible volunteers we offer a tax-free hourly stipend and mileage reimbursement.

Volunteers will NOT be asked to change diapers, cook, clean, or do clerical work.

Why volunteer with Volunteers for Community Impact? We provide training, a background check, supplemental insurance, additional benefits if eligible, and recognition to volunteers at no charge. The Foster Grandparent Program is federally funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
