About Turning Leaf Project

Location:

3765 Leeds Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405, US

Mission Statement

Building stable, productive lives among those men who are most at risk for re-arrest.

Description

Founded only 4 years ago, Turning Leaf provides daily classes based in concepts of cognitive behavioral therapy to improve coping skills in order for clients to better manage risky emotions and situations. Research demonstrates that individuals likely to re-offend need 150+ hours of skill-based learning to adopt new thinking and behavior patterns. These skills are not just taught, but are practiced and role-played. Students are hired to work in our full-service t-shirt screen printing shop, giving them a legal income, a structured schedule, an opportunity to build employment history and practice using the skills learned in the classroom in a supervised work environment. Students demonstrating skill competency are transitioned into competitive employment in the public or private sector. Recidivism rates are at national lows and numerous programs across the country aren't able to replicate our stats.
