Purpose:

The purpose of The Hope Heart Institute’s Heart Restart Community Champion is to serve as a leader in promoting sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) awareness and preparedness in the community through hands-on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) & automated external defibrillator (AED) education.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist and/or lead Heart Restart community education and outreach events
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers at outreach events
  • Respect for personal information and confidentiality
  • Uphold professionalism at all times
  • Be an advocate for heart healthy lifestyles and heart disease while maintaining a respect for individual lifestyles
  • Maintain an understanding and commitment to The Hope Heart Institute’s mission
  • Provide feedback and direction to supervisor and other staff members

Qualifications:

  • Nationally recognized CPR & AED certification card (instructor certification desired)
  • Cultural sensitivity
  • Team player/individual contributor
  • Comfort leading an educational class in front of a group ranging from 5 ? 30 individuals

Length of Appointment:

  • 3 month commitment

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 1 hour commitment at community education classes
  • Approximately 3-4 hour shifts at outreach events
  • Daytime/evening/weekends
  • 1 to 2 events per month (scheduled between 1 and 3 weeks in advance)
