Support Line

Volunteer over the phone and support survivors of sexual assault! ZCenter is looking for volunteers to support individuals who call into our 24/7 Support Line.

Support Line Advocates offer emotional support and resources to callers over our Support Line. We receive calls from professionals, survivors of sexual assault, and significant others of survivors who are looking for support and information. Focusing on healthy coping skills, education, and providing resources, Support Line Advocates provide crisis intervention, resources, and support to individuals who reach out to us over the phone.

Our Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training will equip you with the tools and resources you need for this opportunity. Our next training starts June 4th and will be a daytime training at out Gurnee location. Our training covers:

  • History of the Rape Crisis Movement
  • Cultural Competency
  • Components of Sexual Assault and Abuse
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Medical, Legal, and Support Line Advocacy
  • Prevention Education & Community Outreach

Our training is interactive and includes role plays and various presentations from professionals within the agency and in the community. You will also interact with current volunteers through our panel, where they share their volunteer experience and answer questions you may have.

ZCenter Support Line Advocates do not have to report to a concrete location because they respond to calls coming in to their cell phone through our answering service. Please contact Natalie Juarez at Njuarez@zcenter.org or 847-244-1187ext.159 to learn more.
