The primary function of a Buddy is to provide emotional support to a GMHC client (from newly diagnosed to a long-term survivor). The volunteer works as a liaison to connect the client to services at GMHC or other social service agencies, as needed. The Buddy can assist with errands and socialization though various activities with the client. The volunteer will provide monthly reports, and maintain ongoing contact with the program coordinator. We ask for one year commitment and to visit with your client for 1-4 hours per week at a mutually agreed time.
