Join in on a wonderful opportunity to mentor and tutor children in the Lake City neighborhood--a wonderfully diverse population of students who need your academic support.
Children range from kindergarten through middle school--you do not need to be PhD to help.
Program runs on Monday and Wednesdays. Mondays are from 4:30-6:30PM; Wednesdays from 3:30-6:30PM--you do NOT need to be here the whole window of time to volunteer. Additionally, there will be opportunities to engage with children in enrichment type activities and/or computer lab time on Thursdays from 3:30-5:30PM
It is preferred that volunteers are NOT one-time attendees but instead are willing to commit to at least a few times per month in a reoccurring fashion.

Description
The University Family YMCA runs a large variety of programs for area teenagers. We are looking for volunteers to help us in a variety of ways in our after school drop in program which runs daily from 4-6pm or in one of our other various programs.Volunteers would have roles such as tutoring, leading clubs and activities, and just being a positive adult role model in the lives of teens. This is an opportunity for a volunteer to gain some hands on experience with teens. Volunteer will learn how to manage a wide variety of personalities through constant in ratio work. Volunteer will also be in direct contact with school organizations, non-profit organizations and parents gaining a better understanding of all of the key components of youth work. This is a great and fun way to get involved in your community and really make a difference in the lives of teenagers. There is no required time commitment, we just ask that you are able to be consistent in your volunteering, weather that is once a week or once a month
