Catch a glimpse of an Acorn Woodpecker at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center!

Volunteer at fun community event at Effie Yeaw Nature Center! NatureFest is a family-friendly event includes live animal presentations, kids activities, demonstrations, guided nature hikes, and food.

We are looking for volunteers to help with morning set up, redirect folks entering at side-gate, directing people to stay in front of the stage for the wild animal shows (not behind), assist at the volunteer food station, work at the welcome table, and help with clean-up.

Shift times are 8am to 9:30am; 9:15 to 12:30; 12:15 to 3:00; and 3:00 to 4:30 (for clean-up).

Volunteers 18+ are wanted for these positions. If you work all day, we provide lunch for you. City buses do not come here--you will need a car, a bike, or a ride!

Effie Yeaw Nature Center is dedicated to providing educational and interpretive programs about the natural environment, principally in the American River Parkway. We connect people to nature and bring nature to people!

Description

The Effie Yeaw Nature Center, situated among approximately 100 acres of protected riparian and oak woodland habitat along the Lower American River. The center provides unique exhibits and interpretive programs about nature, science, Native American culture and how to conserve our natural resources. The Effie Yeaw Nature Center serves many local school children who visit on field trips and the local community and visitors of Sacramento who enjoy connecting with nature. The Nature Center is open to the public Tuesday-Sunday, from 9am-5pm, and serves over 80,000 visitors annually.
