Ten Thousand Villages Shop
Preview of artistic items

If you love unique hand-made jewelry, ceramics, baskets, or musical instruments-- to name a few of the shop's products--you will love working at Ten Thousand Villages.

Not only will you be a sales associate explaining the materials and countries of origin but also helping to raise the economy and self-esteem of artisans in those developing countries. Don't worry, you will be carefully trained through videos and print about these artisans and about how to use the register.

During the holidays you may unpack new stock or help take inventory so the Store Manager will know what to re-order. You will also have the opportunity to work off site at special selling events to various organizations.

You will be asked to work at least two three-hour shifts of your choice a month and will gain the satisfaction of meeting wonderful people and helping others.

Right now we especially need volunteers during the hours of 4:00-7:00 PM on Thurs and 4-8 PM on Fri and Sat.

Volunteers are offered a 20% discount on products they wish to purchase from the store. At times Bonus discounts are offered to volunteers working 12 hours a month or more.

Call the store for the next training session--you won't regret it!

Mission Statement

Ten Thousand Villages' mission is to create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term fair trading relationships.

The company strives to improve the livelihood of tens of thousands of disadvantaged artisans in 38 countries. Ten Thousand Villages accomplishes this by establishing a sustainable market for handmade products in North America, and building long term buying relationships in places where skilled artisan partners lack opportunities for stable income. Product sales help pay for food, education, healthcare and housing for artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed.

We'll work with your schedule.
