Anjellicle Cats Rescue (ACR), an all-volunteer cat rescue dedicated to helping make New York a no-kill city, is seeking a Public Relations Coordinator. As one of the most active cat rescues in New York City -- we rescued more than 800 cats in 2015 -- we want to re-energize and expand ACR's visibility with the public in order to attract new cat adopters and fosters as well as raise funds. The Public Relations Coordinator will play a key role on a volunteer team - you won't be doing this alone - to craft cohesive, integrated campaigns for print and online media exposure as well as social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Key duties and skills of this volunteer position include:

--Create and expand relationships with various types of publicity opportunities, including newspapers, television shows, brand and product sponsorships, websites and social media.

--Raise awareness of ACR via unusual or clever activities designed to promote placements in traditional and social media.

--Craft PR campaigns and utilize experience with social media.

--Write and send press releases for anything that could potentially be turned into a story for the media.

--Maintain targeted media lists for broadcast, web, social media, and print outlets.

--Work effectively with special events, fundraising, and foster/adoption teams to create new opportunities, identify trends to capitalize on, promote existing projects, and highlight compelling stories within the volunteer organization.

--Respond in a timely and professional manner to PR requests from the media and other publicity opportunities.

Benefits:

The Public Relations Coordinator is a key member of our all-volunteer staff and will have the opportunity to contribute to many aspects of the workings of our nonprofit organization. Your work will have a direct impact on the lives of hundreds of rescued cats by helping to raise awareness, attract new fosters and adopters, and save cats' lives.

About Anjellicle Cats Rescue

Anjellicle Cats Rescue is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit (501c3) cat rescue dedicated to helping make New York a no-kill city. Of the more than 1500 cats we rescued in 2014, 1200 were at immediate risk for euthanasia and saved by us with only hours to spare. As a New Hope Partner with Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), we work closely with the ACC to save sick, injured and so-called unadoptable animals from being euthanized. Each rescued cat is given medical care and welcomed into a foster home with the goal of adoption into a permanent, safe, loving home.

We have a network of about 300 foster homes throughout the tri-state area and more than 400 cats available for adoption. We have three adoption centers in New York City: Petco UES (1280 Lexington Ave), Petco UWS (805 Columbus Ave), and Spoiled Brats (340 W. 49th St.). We hold weekly adoption events at the Petco locations where potential adopters can meet and cuddle our cats.

Mission Statement

Anjellicle Cats Rescue is an all-volunteer registered 501c3 cat rescue committed to helping make New York a no-kill city. As one of the most active cat rescues in the 5 boroughs, ACR is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and adopting out homeless and abandoned cats, with a focus on city shelter and community animals. Many of these felines are sick, injured or dismissed as unadoptable. Through a coalition of volunteers and caregivers, each rescued cat is welcomed with kindness and medical care into a foster home to prepare it for adoption into a permanent, loving home. We believe that no animal should be ill-treated and strive toward a day when awareness, education and compassion have replaced euthanasia as a solution to companion animal overpopulation.

Description

Founded more than 20 years ago, Anjellicle Cats Rescue has been a lifeline for abandoned, stray, and neglected cats and kittens. Through a coalition of volunteers and caregivers, each rescued cat is welcomed with kindness and medical care into a foster home to prepare it for adoption into a permanent, loving home. We always enjoy meeting new volunteers, fosters and supporters who share our mission -- to rescue, care for and place New York City's homeless cats and kittens.
