Mission Statement

The mission of CGH is to improve the lives of economically-disadvantaged, job-seeking men by providing workforce supportive services and programs that helps each client obtain and retain a job. Giving each man "a Suit and a Second Chance" helps them move toward economic self-sufficiency, which improves the lives of their families and communities.CGH collaborates directly with social service agencies, educational institutions, and non-profits who prepare their clients for meaningful jobs after training programs and refer them to us for services that fills the gaps that exist between the training and a job. Initially, we provide an interview-appropriate outfit for an upcoming job position or job fair. Dressing appropriately in professional business attire highly enhances men's chances to be successful during their job search, and greatly improves clients' success rate in achieving sustainable employment.

Description

Career Gear Houston was founded in 2004 and operates as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization providing workforce services to clients who are struggling and need a suit...a second chance...to change their lives from where they were to where they want to succeed by obtaining and retaining a job. We primarily service the greater Houston metropolitan area including Harris, Ft. Bend, Galveston, Polk, Montgomery counties. We served over 1200 clients in 2014 and expect to increase those numbers of men served in 2015 and beyond. Over 50 % of our clients are US Veterans who have had the honor of serving our country to protect and provide the freedoms we enjoy. We salute and honor our veteran clients as they make their transition into civilian employment!
