Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
We are looking for volunteers with some tutoring or teaching experience. The English Conversation Cafe is an informal group of learners that gathers once a week to practice English verbal skills. The program is geared towards those at an intermediate level and who are conversant in English, and is not meant to be an ESL class for beginners. As there is no set curriculum, Café facilitators have the freedom to develop their own materials, look for resources online or browse through our collection of materials for ideas on activities.
