We are looking for tutors for this semester! Are you an outgoing professional that could help tutor students in one or more of the following subjects: Physical Science, Algebra, Geometry, World Geography/US Government, Biology, English and Spanish.
We are looking for a couple of volunteers to tutor students and keep them focused when doing work.
Tutors are needed after school on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 3:40-4:30 pm.
In addition to a short application through our organization (includes references), volunteers must complete fingerprinting with the city of Boulder ($11) .

Colorado Youth for a Change is solving Colorado's dropout crisis. When youth drop out of school it limits their potential, opportunities, and hope. CYC provides dropout outreach and recovery services that bring high school students back to school; educational intervention services that help students failing core courses to graduate on time; and new school programs that fit the needs of students who have fallen too far behind in and/or dropped out of traditional schools. Since 2005, CYC has substantially contributed to decreasing the number of dropouts in Colorado. And of the over 1,700 students we serve annually, 72 percent continue enrollment or graduate. The mission of Colorado Youth for a Change (CYC) is to solve Colorado’s dropout crisis.
Description
Founded in 2005 in response to over 18,000 youth dropping out of Colorado schools each year, CYC works each and every day to solve the dropout crisis. We partner with school districts across the state supporting 1000's of struggling students each year.
Large bodies of research show that the lack of a high school diploma or GED considerably lowers a person’s employability and economic security throughout their lifetime and results in poorer overall health, unstable housing conditions, increased exposure to violence, and higher rates of poverty. In addition, data shows that one person who drops out will cost taxpayers $292,000 over their lifetime. Because even one student who drops out is too many, we are committed to improving the dropout rate through thoughtful community partnerships, dropout outreach & reengagement programs, expansion of school options and educational intervention programs.
