Mission Statement

Friends of Fresh and Green, a non-profit corporation, with 501(c)3 created to ensure the continuation and success of Fresh and Green Academy, a school for impoverished children in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Our mission is to provide the Academy's students with daily meals, a well-rounded education and access to adequate medical care under the guidance of the Academy's director and founder, Muday Mitiku. Friends of Fresh and Green also supports the "Mothers Cooperative," an on-site program created to provide personal empowerment for the student's mothers by allowing them to earn their own money, learn new skills and provide for their families' future.

Description

Friends of Fresh and Green Academy was created to support Fresh and Green Academy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Fresh and Green Academy is a private school located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The school serves the under privileged children in the area by providing free education, at present, to grades pre-K, Kindergarten through 8th grade. The school also provides 3 hot meals a day and operates a lesser schedule during the summer so the children will continue to eat. The academy's goals for the future include adding a grade level every year, to keep the current children of the academy fed and educated at least until they are able to attend high school. If they do not stay at the academy, although they will have access to education in the government schools, they will not have access to the nutrition they have been getting at Fresh and Green Academy. The majority will drop out to beg for food.
