Are you a computer or tech wiz....who also enjoys sharing knowledge and assisting those less familiar with or intimidated by technology? Wider Horizons is seeking patient volunteers to assist older adults with their technology needs. Although the description says "virtual," the opportunity is actually in the homes of seniors who live in Central Seattle.
Not all members of Wider Horizons Village lack tech savvy. But for those who don't have the confidence or knowledge to fully use modern tech devices or social media, purchasing, setting-up, using or upgrading can feel very daunting!
As a volunteer, you get matched with village members (in Central District, Seattle) and assist each with their computer/tech questions and challenges. You will likely provide them assistance at their home. Tech assistance volunteers receive assignments as they are requested by village members, essentially "on-call" to respond when needs arise. Please note ON-CALL means you should be okay with receiving requests for assistance on a non-scheduled basis, as they arise, which could mean weeks between requests.
Volunteers may at times need to utilize or demonstrate on their own tech devices. Village members are responsible for the cost of acquiring, installing, using or updating their own tech devices.
Wider Horizons volunteers must successfully complete an application, background check, and interview/orientation.
