About

Looking for a roommate? We may be a bit on the sloppy side - tracking up your floors, leaving hair on everything you own, slobber and nose prints on the glass. But - we also offer unconditional love, snuggles and kisses - companionship and loyalty. We ask you - where can you find that in a human roommate???

If you have room in your home, heart and schedule to care for one of us - dogs or cats - with special needs or a disability, you may be our person!

Just because we have special needs or a disability doesn't mean we are necessarily high maintenance. Some of us have no other medical problems. A pet that is blind or deaf may be perfectly healthy otherwise. A dog or cat with three (or two!) legs may have no other problems. We come in all ages, shapes and sizes - some with more problems than others.

Dogs are considered seniors as young as 7-8 years, depending on the breed. Cats that are 10 and above are considered seniors. Our age alone qualifies us as special needs - senior citizens. Like humans, we may begin to have some problems with vision or hearing - arthritis - but often have no other health issues if well-cared for.

Many of us are pretty well-trained, and often play well with others - humans and pets! There are some young ones with special needs or disabilities, and they will need the same training as any other, but maybe with a twist.

CCAS wants foster parents to work with us to address any behavioral problems that may keep us from being adopted. Not alll of us will be adopted, but many of us will. Your job is to help make that happen, and take real good care of us.

Like humans, some of us need medication, help up the stairs, wheelchair ramps or diapers. If you have a medical or veterinary background, it can be helpful for those, but if not, you can learn new tricks - lots of people do!

You know you want to help! Think about it, and talk to your humans to see what they think. CCAS will take care of the food and vet costs - and help with transportation if needed. They will also provide you with any training you need to be successful!

CCAS is pretty picky, but if you have the interest, space and time - call or email LuAnn. She will tell you more and find out more about you.
