Homework House is an after school literacy program working with students who are behind in their literacy skills. We focus on developing those skills and building their self-confidence while partnering with volunteers from the community to make it happen. Volunteers work with students 1 to 1 or in small groups, reading with students, practicing new strategies, building vocabulary, helping with homework, and playing reading games.
Some of the options we have for volunteering include our 2 Godfrey Lee schools which meet Monday-Thursday from 3:15-5:15 and Cesar Chavez which meets Monday-Thursday from 5:00-6:00. Volunteers are asked to commit to one day per week for at least one semester.
