Mentor- Job Description
TeenSHARP is looking for passionate, knowledgeable and committed instructors
TeenSHARP prepares students of color for admission into selective colleges while developing them as ambassadors of higher education in their communities.
-Responsible for meeting with the assigned mentee bi-monthly (minimum) as well as participate in bi-monthly meetings with the Development Officer to provide feedback
-Act as a resource and guide to academic performance and college prep access
-Work closely with TeenSHARP staff through phone contact, personal conferences and group meetings to discuss ideas, challenges, opportunities, etc.
-Serve as an example/role model for mentee
-At least 18 years of age
-An interest in education, career guidance, social justice, and/or civil service
-Willingness to attend at least one Saturday session per month
-Openness to cultural differences
-Strong active listening and relationship building skills

Location: TeenSHARP sessions take place from 10am-2pm on Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters on the University of Delaware Newark campus (the program does not meet on Thanksgiving and Easter and has a winter holiday break).
Time commitment: Instructors will work approximately 12 hours a week (included Saturday classes). Instructors will be trained prior to the start of service.
