Penny, our social media assistant

We are seeking a volunteer Social Media and Media Relations Coordinator to join Happy Paws Rescue in South Plainfield, NJ! Is this you?

You have a passion for animal welfare and know that media leverages an immense power to help homeless pets. You're a creative storyteller who can convince a potential adopter that this pet is "the one." You're also an adept writer and can spin a story 10 different ways to create engaging, actionable posts. You think in hashtags. When it comes to bringing attention to our cause, you already have great ideas to use the latest social media trends, such as Instagram Stories, Facebook Live, or this week's most popular meme, to find homes for deserving animals.

You have a solid sense of customer service best practices and are a wordsmith when respectfully addressing issues. You're a grammatical neat freak and a whizbang with social media analytics. You practice social listening in your sleep. You're comfortable pitching story ideas to media outlets and writing short pet profiles for publication. You're skilled in video editing and email marketing? Awesome, we'd love your help with that, too!

Ideally, you've managed social media brand pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others) in a professional setting. (We will provide some training to get you started with Happy Paws.) You have 10 hours a week to consistently dedicate to this position, including attending events in central NJ to shoot video and speak with volunteers and adopters in order to tell their stories.

If you're looking for a truly rewarding volunteer experience that gives a voice to voiceless animals, please email your resume and links to your social media work and similar writing samples (such as blog posts) to happypawsrescue@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Mission Statement

Happy Paws Rescue Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and New Jersey non-profit corporation dedicated to animal rescue and adoption. We specialize in the rescue of dogs and cats from high-volume shelters where the prospect of permanent placement is unlikely. We also serve as an educational resource for the public regarding the prevention of cruelty to animals, in addition to spay and neuter awareness to reduce the population of homeless and stray dogs and cats. By working with committed volunteers and veterinarians, we provide all dogs and cats in our care with medical attention and a safe haven prior to placement in their permanent, loving homes.

Description

Happy Paws Rescue Inc. is an all-volunteer group. We provide homeless pets with necessary medical attention and foster care before placing them into loving homes. We do not have a physical shelter. Instead, all animals are fostered in the homes of volunteers. This gives us with the opportunity to learn more about the animals and provide socialization and training. For many of these animals, it is in these foster homes that they first learn what it means to be beloved house pets. We are always looking for volunteers to help us help the animals. The importance of foster homes cannot be understated. We can only help as many animals as we have foster homes. We also need volunteers to help with special events, fundraising, etc. No matter what your talent is, we’re sure we can use your help! Adoption days are held every Sunday the Petco in Piscataway, NJ from noon to 4pm. It’s a great opportunity to meet our animals and possibly take home a forever friend!
