Learning with friends is fun!

We provide one on one tutoring for children struggling with math and reading in grades 1-6. All the materials are provided in each child's individualized work binder. The tutor sits with a student in a study carrel, either supporting homework or explaining, clarifying and helping the student grasp the ideas and skills provided in the binder. A tutor can select work on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday -- offering flexibility for 1-3 hours/week of commitment. Tutors undergo a background check and receive an orientation before beginning.

Mission Statement

Bound Together’s mission is to nurture self -worth and academic growth for Pontiac elementary school students performing below grade level.

Bound Together is a place that welcomes, nurtures and encourages all who are part of its fabric. It provides these services at no cost to families. We have been entrusted with children who are actively working toward improving their academic skills and in the process forming strong bonds with each other and the adults who either tutor or cook. Bound Together is in session (after school) every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout the school year. After every session the children enjoy a hot meal. Every second Monday we offer an art experience called Creation Station. The success of the program is a direct result of caring volunteers (both as tutors and as cooks.) Bound Together keeps its doors open and the program strong as a result of the generosity of many who feel supporting Bound Together is an investment in the life of a child.
