Interns can work remotely from anywhere in the US, or from the Lucas Artists Residency Program offices in the 176-acre Montalvo Arts Center park in Saratoga, California, or a combination of the two

Parameters of Internship

The Lucas Artists Residency Program at Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California, seeks an intern with excellent writing skills and experience in the arts to help write, edit and transcribe texts for web, blog, social media, press and publicity purposes. This will include editing bios for our Artist Fellows page on the website, transcribing and editing interviews with artists to be featured online, and writing blog posts featuring news from our artists in residence.


We require a minimum 3-month commitment for this position, and at least 10 hours per week. This is an unpaid internship. The position requires excellent critical thinking and arts writing skills, the ability to write creative, professional and error-free text, and the ability to work independently. Experience with social media platforms and uploading text and video is a plus. College credit is available in some cases for interns working 20+ hours per week. This is an opportunity to work with the curatorial team at an internationally-recognized artist residency program. We are prepared to write a strong letter of recommendation for high-performing interns who have contributed three months or more to the program.
