10-40 hours/week, Monday-Friday

On-Site at Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, CA

Parameters of Internship

The Lucas Artists Residency Program (LAP) at Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California seeks a Hospitality Managent intern with excellent logistical and management skills to help us create systems and checklists to manage the facilities, housekeeping and inventory of our 10 state-of-the art artist studios on a hillside in a 176-acre park. This international program’s operational model is similar to that of a boutique hotel. This internship requires a detail- and systems-oriented person interested in operations management. This is an exciting, fast-paced environment and a space that hosts artists, writers, musicians and composers, dancers, media artists and other talented individuals from all over the world in the creation of new work.

REQUIREMENTS:

We require a minimum 3-month commitment for this position, and at least 10 hours per week. Interns could work from the Montalvo Lucas Artist Residency Program offices in Saratoga, California, from home, or a combination of the two.

This is an unpaid internship. The position requires excellent critical thinking and operations skills, the ability to write professional text, and the ability to work independently. College credit is available in some cases for interns working 20+ hours per week. This is an opportunity to help build operational programs at an internationally-recognized artist residency program. Intern will work with the Lucas Artists Residency Program Manager, who has an MBA and operations-management experience and a systems orientation. This will be both a significant training opportunity and a chance to take on and own a project. We are prepared to write a strong letter of recommendation for high-performing interns.

TO APPLY

Please send resume, cover letter with an outline of your career goals and interest in this internship, and two error-free writing samples to lwood@montalvoarts.org. Thank your for your interest.
