Do you have a passion for helping people? Come be a part of the solution to violence in our communities by becoming a LifeWire Volunteer!
Every year LifeWire answers over 10,000 calls to our 24-hour helpline. Survivors call looking for resources as well as an open ear and supportive space, so your only requried skill is empathy! We need dedicated volunteers like you to support survivors on their journey to safety and stability for themselves and their families!
And don't worry, we won't put you on the phone without training! Per Washington Administrative Code, anyone working with survivors of domestic violence is required to receive (at minimum) an initial 20 hours of domestic violence education. We offer a 25-hour training twice a year, in March and October. The training is on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm with a full day advocacy training on the final Saturday.
This Fall we will be starting on Monday, 9/5 and ending on Saturday, 10/1. The cost of the training is a flat $100 (free with a one year commitment of one shift per week), and you can find more information about the training on our website.
** please note that the training is IN PERSON but our address is not listed as we are a semi-confidential location for the safety of our clients - you will receive the address after confirming attendance**
