ERM has also initiated the Python Eradication Project (PED) which will be located specifically in Everglades National Park (ENP). PED will include a captive breeding facilitiy and program located just outside ENP in Homestead on leased farm land. Native, captive bread small mammals wiped out within ENP will be raised and released with embedded tracking devices replenishing the devastated populations of many small mammal species within the park. Mammals with tracking devices that fall prey to the aggressive pythons will lead experts to the pythons allowing for removal. Volunteers are needed for tracking and locating pythons for removal within Everglades ecosystems.
