Every day of the week donors gives us clothing and household items that need to be sorted and organized in our free donation room where our families obtain things they need. This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for camaraderie with friends and an awesome way to give back to our community. Volunteers in the donation room have the opportunity to help our families shop for things they need, and it is an amazing feeling to see our clients thrive and grow. We currently need volunteers for a few hours in the mornings on Thursdays and Fridays. New volunteers will shadow lead volunteer a few times on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Description
Partners in Housing is a Colorado Springs non-profit that provides a year of transitional housing and supportive services to families experiencing or at imminent risk of homelessness. We have 68 housing units that range in size from motel-style apartments to single-family homes. We have both centralized and scattered locations. We provide families in our Family Self-Sufficiency Program one-on-one budget and credit counseling, individualized case management, resource navigation, housing navigation, career readiness sessions, life skills classes, access to two free Donation Centers (includes items such as canned goods, hygiene products, diapers, kitchenware, bedding, clothing, furniture, and mattresses), and on-site childcare. Last year, 90% of the families in our program successfully moved onto safe and stable housing upon graduation.
