About

Volunteers needed to help with set up and break down, registration, room support, and directing the 550 conference attendees at the 2016 Getting Ready for College Conference.

This free conference is open to all 10th, 11th and 12th graders and their parents throughout the West Contra Costa Unified School District. Students and parents will learn about college life from former WCCUSD students and how to make college a reality by participating in workshops on Personal Statement Writing, How to Be Competitive for College, and Choosing Your Best Fit College. Applications for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CA Dream Act Application are being accepting for the first time this year starting October 1st and students will have the opportunity to complete their financial aid applications at the conference.

The event is hosted jointly by the Ed Fund, City of Richmond, West Contra Costa Unified School District, WriterCoach Connection, and the West County College Access Network, a consortium of 25+ organizations dedicated to increasing the number of college-bound students in the district.
