Are you great on the phone? Do you enjoy making connections but can't make a weekly commitment? Help seniors and people with disabilities maintain independence and health by becoming an on-call grocery order taker for when weekly callers are unavailable.
We're looking for caring and dedicated volunteers to substitute for our weekly grocery order takers as needed. You set your schedule so this role is ideal for those who would prefer flexibility.
Since most of Store to Door's clients are homebound, the calls you make might be some of the few calls they get and they look forward to hearing from you. Training is provided. Calls are made from our very nice SW Portland office (Multnomah Village).
You can sub for any or all of these shifts...
Monday mornings from 9:00-11:30am
Tuesday mornings from 9:00-11:30am
Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-3:00pm
We contact you as far in advance as possible with the subbing opportunity and you let us know if you can cover the shift. Regular callers may be on vacation, have a schedule conflict, or may be ill so we always need on-call Order Takers ready to make sure our clients can place their orders.
For more than 25 years, Store to Door has been supporting independent living for Portland-area seniors and people with disabilities by providing a low-cost, volunteer-based grocery shopping and delivery service. Without the dedicated support of volunteers like you, this service would not be available. Here's what volunteers and clients have to say:
"Using Store to Door enables me to get fresh produce and to make better nutritional choices than if I went to the convenience store across the street." --Client
"They are the 'Grocery Angels'..." --Community Member
"Your help is priceless!" --Client
