Everyone deserves to be heard- are you interested in being on the receiving line?

-Do you or a loved one have lived experience with mental health?
-Are you willing to provide support to others seeking a listening ear?
-Looking for experience in mental health or peer support, but not sure where to start?

Cal Voice's Consumer-Operated Warmline is actively seeking volunteer phone operators to work remotely, who are able to provide non-crisis, supportive services and community resources/referrals to Sacramento County residents who utilize our phone line.

REQUIREMENTS:
*Volunteers must have some form of lived experience with mental health to be able to connect with those who call in to the Warmline
*18 years or older
*Background Check required
*Relative experience with technology
*Have means of technology (smartphone/tablet/computer) as this position is remote
*Be a resident of Sacramento County


HOURS:
-The Consumer-Operated Warmline's hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm PST excluding major Holidays
-Volunteers typically operate 2-4 hours a week and have an ongoing, set schedule based on your availability
-Typical shifts throughout the week are: 9am-12pm; 12-3pm; 3-5pm (these can always be altered, as we are flexible)

DUTIES:

-Must have experience with technology, as this is a remote position
-Answering calls, listening to Voicemails, returning calls
-Documentation of call volume, referrals, satisfaction surveys, etc.
-Offering non-judgmental, supportive listening and being able to meet callers where they are at mentally
-We are NOT a Crisis Hotline/Suicide Hotline

About Cal Voices (A continuation of NorCal MHA)

In 1946, coalition of mental health patients, mental health service providers, and interested community members began a local Mental Health Association chapter in Sacramento, which is now known as Cal Voices, a continuation of NorCal MHA. For nearly 70 years, Cal Voices has provided mental health consumers with culturally-affirming peer support services, assistance in navigating various human service agencies, and advocacy for consumer-oriented public mental health policies. Currently, Cal Voices provides these services in Amador, Placer, and Sacramento counties in California, and offers technical assistance to other mental health agencies statewide.
