Summary:

Volunteers help staff with folding and stuffing projects, packet assembly, binder assembly, copies, filing, light typing, answering phones, or other duties needed by Cardinal Hill staff.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND PROCEDURES:

General Procedures:

1. Assist with folding and stuffing projects, and assembly projects.

2. Assist staff with general office projects; filing, answering phones, etc.

3. Understand and follow the safety guidelines and employee handbook as well as hospital policies.

4. Putting notebooks together for patients if needed

5. other duties as assigned

   EDUCATION, TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE:

   Must be familiar with the location of the units in the hospital. Must complete Cardinal Hill Hospital orientation that is volunteer specific. Must complete the Clerical training and orientation. Be dependable, have a positive attitude when volunteering and respect the patient's rights. Must maintain patient confidentiality.

   SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

   1. Hearing - Able to hear normal sounds with some background of noise as in answering phone.

2. Excellent interpersonal skills. Good communication and listening skills with children and adults.

3. Must be willing to accept change and be sensitive to needs of client/families in stressful situations. 4. Ability to communicate directions in a simple manner and work as a team member.

5. Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management and understand how to complete task, as well as communicate with clients.

Provides patient services based on identified needs/developmental level for all patient populations; incorporation of age-specific characteristics in patient education, communication and planning; provision of individualized care relevant to patient needs; and recognition, monitoring and provision of interventions as appropriate.
