PLACEMENT PURPOSE
A Donor Ambassador is a blood drive volunteer who provides assistance to blood donors and Blood Services Collection staff at collection sites through the roles of hospitality and reception. The Donor Ambassadors cannot engage in phlebotomy or preform or assist in any medical procedure.
A Donor Screener is a blood drive volunteer who takes the temperature of all those who enter the blood drive and make sure they are well enough to donate blood during the COVID19 pandemic. All appropriate PPE including masks and gloves are provided to the screener. Must be 18 years of age or older for this role!
OPEN TIME DAYS
Flexible.
- Length of typical Blood Drive - 6 hours (please note the majority of blood drives are doing the weekday and during the day). Blood drives take place at local businesses, schools, community centers, shopping malls etc.
This does not include travel time to and from drive.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has weekday availability and lives in Westchester County, NY or in Greenwich, CT!
One blood drive shift per month is required to remain an active volunteer in good standing.
REQUIRED TRAINING- Orientation to the American Red Cross
- Disaster Services: An Overview (Online or classroom) This class is highly recommended but not required.

- Volunteer receives Blood Donor Ambassador or Screener guide
