Help others and learn to ride horses! We are needing volunteers on Saturday morning from 9:30-2:00 as well as during the week on Tuesday/Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons. This is a fun and rewarding opportunity. The volunteer family is a wonderful group of people. We provide Therapeutic horseback riding for individuals with special needs. We also teach our volunteers basic western riding skills in exchange for helping out. For supporting our amazing athletes during their riding sessions you have the opportunity to learn the basic skills of grooming, tacking, ground work, and riding skills. Please email us at info@equessense.org.

Mission Statement
Equessense, Therapeutic Horse Play utilizes very special horses in a therapeutic approach to enhance the lives of individuals with a wide range of abilities and needs. Our mission is to help meet the growing need for alternative therapies and inclusive recreational opportunities for people with disabilities at a nominal fee that would exclude on one who could benefit from our services.
Description
Equestrian therapy is widely recognized as a beneficial method of intervention for people with physical, mental, emotional, developmental or sensory deficits. Research has produced solid evidence that animal-assisted therapy in the form of a structured horse-back riding program not only reduces the manifestations of the rider's disability but enables him or her to gain valuable skills in other areas as well. Equessense offers individualized riding programs for every rider based on specific goals pertaining to that rider. For virtually every need that a rider might have, the horse offers a specific healing solution. Under the supervision of a trained facilitator the horse becomes a wise teacher, a sensitive therapist and a trusted friend.
