Activist arts organization promoting environmental justice: environmental educators
Art Works for Change is a nonprofit organization that creates contemporary art exhibitions to address critical social and environmental issues. Our museum-quality exhibitions are hosted by fine art institutions all over the world, and feature artists whose work promotes awareness, provokes dialogue and inspires action. We recently launched a new online exhibition platform to broaden our reach. Our current exhibition explores humanity’s ecological footprint and the consequences of overshooting the natural resources that Earth can supply and regenerate. We are partnering with environmental organizations to create the exhibition, including Global Footprint Network, World Wildlife Fund, Earth Day Network and NRDC.
Our exhibitions are a unique tool for educators to introduce environmental issues to their students. We are looking for environmental educators who are interested in helping us to inform educators about our exhibitions and to promote the use of our content in the classroom. Our current exhibition features a variety of content, including information about the environmental issues addressed by the exhibition, art-interpretive content, provocative content aimed at building a conversation, information about artists and their work and information about ways that exhibition visitors can take action to reduce their ecological footprint. Our goal is to create exhibitions that combine education and activism, and empower people to make real changes in their mindset and their daily routines. We have the flexibility to tailor your participation to your schedule, preferred time commitment and other preferences.
In addition to the exhibition itself, the content may be featured in prominent online campaigns, including Earth Day (sponsored by the Earth Day Network) and Earth Overshoot Day (sponsored by Global Footprint Network).
Plus, you will get to join a fun, passionate team, working for an important cause--and buildour own skills and network in the process. Remote volunteers are happily accepted.
