Come share your passion with elementary students! During the school year, our program runs from 3pm - 6pm, Monday through Friday. We will work with your availability. Volunteers are encouraged to take initiative in building relationships with students in our program in order to best serve our community. Volunteering for our After School Program can include tutoring one on one with students who are behind in their academic grade level, leading science or art activities, coaching a sports team (we have soccer and basketball currently, but open to starting more teams), and assisting in our various venues.

We host a monthly volunteer orientation to tour our program and learn more about the volunteer process. We can also schedule a one-on-one orientation at your convenience. RSVP for the next one here: http://evite.me/QparXSA1Mz

Additionally, you can start the on-boarding process here: https://volunteer.usawest.org/OpportunityDetail.aspx?ID=2492

About The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center

Location:

240 Turk Street, San Francisco, CA 94102, US

Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description

he 63,000 square-foot San Francisco Kroc Center redefines what a community center is all about. The unprecedented place of gathering and enrichment houses an array of education, sports, faith, arts and supportive programs. The programs, as well as the building itself, have been designed to stimulate the mind, body, and spirit, to provide hope, and to transform the life of each and every member of the community.

Joan Kroc, wife of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, had a clear vision in mind: build state-of-art recreational and arts facilities in underserved communities throughout the nation to ensure that all individuals have equal opportunities to grow their natural gifts and talents. In 2003, Mrs. Kroc passed away, and entrusted to The Salvation Army the largest gift ever given to a private charity for the express purpose of building and endowing Kroc Centers.

A fulfillment of Joan Kroc’s vision, the Kroc Center in San Francisco, is comprised of five major components: a Center of Worship, an Education Center, an Aquatics Center, a Fitness and Recreation Center, and Special Event Facilities.
