For over 100 years, the American Cancer Society (ACS) has worked relentlessly to free the world from the pain and suffering of cancer. There are many opportunities to save lives and celebrate life - and Walk & Roll is right here in Chicago.

Walk & Roll began in Chicago 45 years ago, and is the American Cancer Society’s oldest event in Illinois. Participants choose to walk/run 5K, skate 10K or bike 15K along Chicago’s Lakefront to raise awareness and funds for all cancers and the work of the American Cancer Society. The event celebrates cancer survivors and caregivers, guests are treated to entertainment and activities, and participants are encouraged to picnic in the park.

The 2017 Walk & Roll Chicago season officially begins in October and brings together over 5,000 community members at an inspiring 1-day event at Soldier Field on Saturday, April 22, 2017. We are in need of volunteers to support our event in many different ways this season.

• Participate individually or form a fundraising team of co-workers, friends and family
• Day of Event Volunteer to ensure a great experience for all event participants
• Media/PR/Social Media volunteer
• Educational Ambassador/Community Presentation Facilitator
• Create and implement cancer prevention education activities at the event
• Advocacy Volunteer (ACS CAN): ACS CAN is the nation’s leading advocacy organization that is working every day to put cancer issues at a national priority.
• Walk & Roll 5K Run Committee Member
• Cancer Survivor Committee member
• Promotional Team to meet in March for neighborhood flyering
• Office work to help support the event: Projects can include putting together packets for our event, making phone calls to our supporters, etc.
