Racquet Up Detroit is an out-of-school program which focuses intensively on the long-term development of Detroit youth by promoting their education, health, and character development. Through academic tutoring, squash, health and fitness coaching, and youth development, Racquet Up aims to achieve 100% high school graduation and 100% college enrollment among its students.
Racquet Up is seeking volunteers to support during our academic tutoring and homework sessions. Volunteers should feel comfortable helping students with homework in a range of subjects (don't worry, if you aren't a whiz in one subject or another, you can help our students find help from other sources).
The general schedule will be Monday through Thursday, 4:15pm-6:45 pm, as well as Saturday mornings from 9am-11:30 am.
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to the same time slot each week so that our students have consistency and can develop relationships. Practices begin on Monday, Sept 24th. All volunteers must participate in an orientation/training session and complete a background check before they begin volunteering.
Please email Tammy at tammy@racquetup.org if you are interested in volunteering.
