Make a real difference in someone's life!

Great Lakes Caring Hospice, a leading care provider in the Midwest, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families.

As hospice patients approach the end of life, extra support is needed for both patient and family. We are looking for special volunteers to visit patients at the bedside, and offer vigil and support. You could hold a hand, sing softly, or read scripture or poetry to a patient, and provide support for the family at the patient’s bedside.

Hours are very flexible, weekdays, evenings or weekends, and on an on-call basis.

Mission Statement

Our Name Is Our Mission

Caring is at the heart of everything we do, especially when walking you through life’s final chapters. When family, friends, loved ones and referring physicians entrust us with your care when you are nearing the end of your life, we always strive to assure that you spend your remaining days in exceptional comfort and with the utmost dignity.

Description

Volunteers play a vital role in our ability to provide hospice services. By volunteering a few hours or days a month you can make a difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve. As a volunteer you can choose to work with hospice patients and their families or in administrative activities at the hospice office.

A person who volunteers is trained for the area in which they choose to serve and are under the direction of the hospice staff member responsible for the volunteer program.

There are two major areas in which to volunteer with different job titles within those areas.

1. Administrative/Non-Patient Care Volunteer is a person who wants to volunteer but desires no direct patient contact. They may provide administrative assistance in the hospice office. There are non-patient care volunteers who can assist with yard work, running errands and other helpful activities.

2. Patient Care Volunteer is a person who wants to volunteer directly with patients, whether it is in the patient's own home, primary care giver's home, assisted living home, nursing home or other long term care facilities.

We are located at 9102 North Meridian St, Suite 250, Indianapolis, IN 46260. Our office hours are 8:00am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday. You can contact us anytime at 866-437-7770.
