Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a "home away from home" for families of pediatric patients. Volunteers make a difference in the lives of the families that come through our doors by hosting, by listening, by nurturing and by simply being there.

Weekend Manager Volunteers manage all basic aspects of daily operations. Volunteers may cover full days and overnight shifts, or shorter daytime shifts. Overnight volunteers have a private room and bathroom during overnight shifts; overnight shifts include sleep time, although volunteers respond to emergencies that arise throughout the day and night.

Volunteers choose which shifts they cover, and whether they are able to cover a few hours, an overnight shift or the majority of the weekend. This is a great opportunity for families to volunteer together!

Responsibilities include orienting guest families to House services, assisting with families checking in or out of the house, daily household cleaning and upkeep, front desk coverage, and preparing guest rooms for new families.

Orientation and training are provided. An RMHC staff member is always available on-call for emergencies.

In accordance with RMHC Maine’s duty to provide and maintain a workplace that is free of known hazards, and to ensure the safest and healthiest possible environment for each other and the families we serve, we require all staff and volunteers to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Protocols are in place for COVID including masking, social distancing, and enhanced cleaning procedures.
