Duties and Responsibilities

Help students develop study and organization techniques that will help them improve their academic performance

Implement instruction to students to enable them to increase academic achievement

Providing assistance with homework in ways that extend a child’s understanding and interest

Work with students to improve reading, writing, and communication skills

Encourage students to reach higher reading levels by helping them improve vocabulary, spelling and summary techniques

Check completed work

Teach study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies

Evaluate and document student progress

Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment

Qualifications

Possess a passion for helping students learn

Ability to work with minimum supervision and to handle sensitive information with professionalism

Knowledge and skills to help students find new ways to look at difficult skills and concepts

Patience, problem solving abilities, and a willingness to accept responsibility

Ability to select and utilize training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things
